Collapse - Cracks In the Fabrics of Time

Description

At first it was just a phenomenon known as the Bright Rift. Opposed to the Dark Rift in our galaxy that is thick space dust, this was thought to be a new form of space clouds filled to the brim with electric particles that were so powerful they had the brightness of a star and the power to vaporize or modify objects near it. Others thought it was a supernova in effect, or a star just starting to break down and spew it's innards. Other's thought it was simply a super-massive star emitting Ultra-X-Class solar flares, but years later that rift grew and others started to pop up in different areas of the known universe. We monitored them, and noticed these were not clouds or stars. The light that was emitting from it was strange, and wouldn't change upon looking at it from a different angle. It was like looking into a 'void', but it filled with light instead of the typical science fiction depiction of it as a darker violet light. The end result were these... 'cracks' in the universe. These 'cracks' seem to break the very fabrics of reality, and grow without stop. In their wake, they left time itself frozen, broken, or simply gone from existence... There were no ideas on how they form. There were no means, no ideas to stop their progress. No one ever thought a rift in space, a tearing of reality itself to even be possible. Our death was to be inevitable if one were to reach us, or even worse start near us.

"Why are you all surprised at this happening? Did no one ever think to watch any science fiction shows when they were a kid? Am I the only one that thought this could be possible? I'm I the only one here that believes almost if not everything in science ''fiction'' could be possible? On what seems like an infinite amount of knowledge, why is it that our most brilliant minds fail to remember one of Einstein's greatest quotes?--'Imagination is more important than knowledge." What happened to your imagination? What happened to wanting to see what we could know, and why are we so stuck on what we 'think' we know? With what we are today, surely there is someone here besides myself that has theorized these existing? But, even if you didn't-even if you did go the ignorant road and believe we knew everything there is to know, now you can see they do exist. And now, even more, we can study something fantastic. Even if it is posing as the greatest threat ever known. We have made it this far, it is not time to stop. Humanity is persistent and resilient. Time to get to work." ~ Future Astrophysicist

Inspired by the cracks in the universe of Amy Pond's room from Season 5 of Doctor Who. Just messing around in Apophsis to try and get a 'Rift' looking flame to put in a starry space scene and success! Hope it's cool to you guys, too. Lol.

Special thanks to Chaos-Flare [link] for the tips on how to get the damn thing to be sharper instead of just a blob of blur. Though, it seems too sharp now. >_> Oh well.
